Circa 1928 baseball signed on the sweet spot in black ink, “Babe Ruth,” and on a side panel, “Lou Gehrig.” The ball is also signed by several period players from the New York Yankees (George Pipgras, Benny Bengough, and Hall of Famer Herb Pennock) and the Boston Red Sox (Cliff Garrison, Charlie Berry, Buddy Myer, Carl Sumner, and Hall of Famer Red Ruffing). In very good to fine condition, with mild scuffing and light soiling. An exceptional Ruth-Gehrig signed ball—one of the most coveted combos in sporting history—further enhanced by its late 1920s era. By the close of the 1928 season, the Yankees had firmly established themselves as baseball’s preeminent dynasty, capturing their second consecutive World Series championship and further cementing the legendary partnership of Ruth and Gehrig at the peak of their powers.
