TLS as president signed “John Kennedy,” one page, 6.75 x 8.75, White House letterhead, October 9, 1961. Letter to Victor Wickersham, a congressman from Oklahoma, in full: “I want to express my sincere thanks for your able assistance and support in respect to the enactment of the Administration’s program in the recent session. Your contribution to this success is very much appreciated.” In very good to fine condition, with somewhat irregular toning, not affecting the choice signature.
A boldly signed letter from JFK, dated shortly after the close of the first session of the 87th Congress. At this early stage of his presidency, Kennedy was working to enact the core domestic and foreign policy goals of his ‘New Frontier’ program — a broad set of proposals aimed at stimulating economic growth, expanding social opportunity, and strengthening U.S. global leadership. During the first session of the 87th Congress (January–September 1961), a remarkable proportion of Kennedy’s legislative proposals were enacted into law, including major measures such as the Area Redevelopment Act, the Housing Act of 1961, and the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act, among others.
