Description

ALS as president signed “Jimmy,” one page, 6.75 x 8.75, White House letterhead, March 8, 1978. Handwritten letter to his presidential campaign organizer, Dot Padgett, in full: “I appreciate your note, & would be glad to have you come by to see me re your work. You’ve really been doing well! I’m sure you & Richard will enjoy working together & I hope you will give him every benefit of your help & cooperation. Of course, he did not know of my interest or of competition for the job.” In very fine condition.

Dorothy ‘Dot’ Padgett organized the Carter presidential campaign effort known as the Peanut Brigade. During the Carter Administration, she was appointed assistant chief of Protocol at the State Department. Padgett is a former member of the Democratic National Committee, the Georgia Council for the Arts, and the Metropolitan Mental Health Association.
