Description

Two items signed by Lyndon B. Johnson as president:

TLS, one page, 6.75 x 8.75, White House letterhead, April 6, 1966, sent to California Governor Pat Brown: “You were thoughtful to write me such a kind note. It is always pleasing to me to have an opportunity to sit and chat with you about the problems that face this country and to range over ideas that may have within them cheerful solutions to these problems. Lady Bird and I send you and Bernice our warmest best wishes.”

Color 7.25 x 9 photo of Elizabeth Shoumatoff’s oil painting portrait of LBJ, signed and inscribed on the original mat in black ink, “To Phillip & Ruth Potter, from their devoted friend, Lyndon B. Johnson, Jan. 19, 1969,” which dates to his penultimate day as president; Richard Nixon took the presidential oath of office on January 20, 1969. Framed to an overall size of 11.25 x 14.25. In overall fine condition.
