Color satin-finish 10 x 8.5 photo of President Richard Nixon and Chinese Premier Chou En-lai clinking glasses at a special banquet in Beijing on February 25, 1972, signed in black felt tip by Nixon. The reverse bears “A Kodak Paper” watermarks. In very good condition, with overall light scuffing and creasing. President Nixon's 1972 visit to China signaled the normalization of relations between America and China. Nixon famously proposed a toast ‘to Chairman Mao and the friendship between the Chinese and American people,’ and both leaders emphasized bridging differences and building a future of peace. The toast is considered a pivotal moment in U.S.-China relations and was televised to a global audience.
