Engineer and businessman (1846–1914) best known for the invention of the air brake and for his energetic promotion of AC power distribution. DS, signed “Geo. Westinghouse,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 8 x 11, April 26, 1901. Agreement between the Empire Construction Company and the Westinghouse Air Brake Company, by which Westinghouse agrees to furnish the railroad builder with "all air brake and signal material to be used by said Railroad Company upon the lines of railroad owned, operated, or controlled by it, for complete sets of apparatus for locomotives, tenders, freight and passenger cars, and also all equalizing brake valves, signal valves, pressure reducing valves, reservoir release valves, pump regulators, hose couplings, triple valves, angle cocks, pressure retaining valves, conductor's valves, car discharge valves, air strainers, and cut-out cocks, and the repair parts for the above enumerated detail portions of air brake and signal appliances; also all other repair materials to be used in air brake apparatus, excepting such as are made by said Railroad Company in its own shops." Further provisions are made for repair, maintenance, and parts supplied by third parties. Signed at the conclusion in ink by George Westinghouse and J. Ross Clark, and countersigned by two secretaries. In fine condition, with a trimmed left edge.
