Eminent Viennese composer (1825–1899) known as the 'Waltz King,' who is remembered for such classics as 'The Beautiful Blue Danube' and the 'Emperor Waltz,' and for the operetta staple, 'Die Fledermaus.' Unsigned handwritten note in German by Johann Strauss II on the reverse of one of his personal calling cards, 4 x 2.5, imprinted on the front with his name in a simple, cursive script: "Johann Strauss." Strauss writes to Emma Pollak, his wife's cousin, presenting her with a small item, in part (translated): "Enclosed is the aforementioned little something, which I would ask you to allow me to place at your feet." In fine condition.
