Impressive matte-finish 19.5 x 25.5 silver gelatin photograph of Elizabeth Taylor by Italian photographer and film director Gianni Bozzacchi, which depicts the Oscar-winning actress seated in a long, flowing dress on the set of the 1972 drama film X, Y and Zee, prominently signed and inscribed in black felt tip, “To Mimo and ‘Little Liz,’ good luck to you both always, love, Elizabeth.” The reverse is signed in black ink by Bozzacchi, who was hired by Taylor and Richard Burton to be their personal travel photographer after the couple watched him take photos on the set of their 1967 film, The Comedians. In fine condition.
Throughout his career spanning Rome, Paris, London, and New York, Bozzacchi photographed an array of cinema stars and social figures, including Audrey Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot, Raquel Welch, Mia Farrow, Empress Farah Diba, Claudia Cardinale, and Coco Chanel, who, at age 86, reportedly said to a twenty-something Bozzacchi: ‘You make me feel young! Marry me!'
The recipient, Mimmo Cavicchia, owned Taverna Flavia, a renowned restaurant on Via Flavia just steps from Via Veneto—an essential stop for Italian and American stars visiting Rome. Known for his charm and hospitality, especially toward the ladies, Mimmo entertained his celebrity guests and collected signed photos in return. Among his favorites was Elizabeth Taylor, a close friend to whom he dedicated a special room in the restaurant.
