Description

Theologian, humanitarian, and physician (1875–1965) remembered for establishing a hospital in Lambarene, Gabon, and for receiving the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize for his philosophy of 'Reverence for Life.' ANS in German, signed "Albert Schweitzer," penned on the reverse of a 5.5 x 3.5 postcard depicting a scene from his Lambarene hospital, August 4, 1934. Untranslated three-line note by Albert Schweitzer, penned beneath a longer letter by Marie Woytt-Secretan. In fine condition. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from JSA and an original glossy press photograph of the great humanitarian.
