Staple-bound official NASA manual entitled "Apollo 6, Spacecraft 020/Saturn 502, Final Flight Plan," approximately 64 pages, 8 x 10.5, dated March 8, 1968. Prepared by the Manned Spacecraft Center's Flight Crew Support Division, the plan is divided into three sections: "General," including a mission description, mission profile, and summary; "Flight Plan," outlining the mission's schedule from launch to apogee to entry; and "Launch Configuration Switch Position List." In very good to fine condition, with creasing to the tabbed section dividers.
Apollo 6, launched on April 4, 1968, was the final unmanned test flight of the Saturn V rocket. The mission experienced significant problems, including violent pogo oscillations during the first stage and the failure of two second-stage engines, which prevented it from reaching its intended high Earth orbit. Despite these setbacks, NASA considered the test valuable, as the spacecraft still reentered successfully, helping pave the way for the first manned Saturn V flight, Apollo 8, later that year.
