Limited edition commemorative cover honoring the 50th anniversary of Alan Shepard's Mercury Redstone-3 flight, numbered 60/100, flown on a suborbital Russian RSM-54 rocket on June 29, 2011, as part of a project sponsored by the Russian parliament to honor the historic first space flights of Yuri Gagarin and Alan Shepard in 1961. The cover bears an affixed USPS "Alan Shepard: First American in Space" stamp and special 50th anniversary postmark from Houston, Texas; supplemented by both Russian launch and landing site postmarks (Severomorsk, June 29, 2011, and Vilyuchinsk, June 29, 2011) and by both rocket and space mail cachets stamped in red and blue.
