Gene Kranz’s scarce wire Mission Control patch, 4˝ x 3.75˝, which depicts a central rising Space Shuttle rocket, a large Sigma letter, a launching Saturn rocket, and a central banner: “Mission Control.” The upper border bears the inscription in Latin, “Res Gesta Par Excellentiam [Achieve through Excellence],” and the lower border features icons for Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo, each punctuated by four stars that symbolize principles of Mission Control: discipline, morale, toughness, and competence. In fine condition.
Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Farthest Reaches: “The wire Mission Control patch that accompanies this letter comes from the personal collection of former NASA Flight Director, Eugene F. Kranz. From the time it was acquired, it remained continuously in his possession until being donated to the Building Fund of The Shrine of the True Cross Church, Dickinson, Texas. It was subsequently transferred to Farthest Reaches Inc.”
