Gene Kranz's official bracket-bound NASA manual for the Apollo 14 mission entitled “Apollo Operations Handbook Extra Vehicular Mobility Unit: Volume I, System Description, CSD-A-789-(1), Apollo 14,” 9 x 11.5, signed on the title sheet in black felt tip, “This was a Primary Console Reference during an EVA, Eugene F. Kranz.” The top of the page is marked “Apollo, Kranz, MSC-01372-1.” Of the manual’s three sections—Introduction, General Description, and Description of EMU Functions—the middle section is the most robust and features roughly 40 subsections related to the Extravehicular Mobility Unit and its various parts and components. In fine condition. An appealing console-used NASA document related to a vital piece of Apollo astronaut equipment—the A7L spacesuit, which was the primary Apollo-era EVA (Extravehicular Activity) suit. In the case of this manual, the EMU represents the entire EVA system—the A7L pressure suit, the PLSS backpack, the OPS (Oxygen Purge System) emergency unit, the communications gear, and other accessories.
