Fred Haise?s laminated ?MCC Viewing Room? access badge for the historic Apollo 7 mission, which launched on October 11, 1968, from Cape Kennedy Air Force Station, Florida, and splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean eleven days later. The badge, 4 x 2.5, issued to ?Fred Haise? for ?Mission 7,? is affixed to an 8.5 x 11 letter of authenticity signed ?Fred W. Haise,? who writes: ?Displayed below is my ?Mission Control Viewing Room? badge issued to me for use during the Apollo 7 flight. I was on the support crew for Apollo 9 during this period, but like all the Astronauts, I wanted to follow Apollo 7 events as closely as possible when my schedule permitted. The viewing room was located just behind Mission Control at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston, Texas. Badges like this allowed VIPs, astronauts, and family members to observe activities during actual space missions.? In very good to fine condition, with staining along the edges.
