Gorgeous Christmas card from 1921, measuring 5.75 x 8 closed, featuring an image of a sculpture by Augustin Pajou in the gardens of Rockefeller's 'Kykuit' estate, boldly signed on the front in fountain pen, "John D. Rockefeller." Above is a secretarial dedication, "With kind regards and every best wish." Inside is a printed holiday greeting: "With hearty Christmas Greetings and all good wishes for the New Year from John D. Rockefeller." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, secretarially addressed to "Mr. & Mrs. Benjamin F. Rockefellow, Canon City, Colorado."
The recipient, Rockefeller's cousin Benjamin Franklin Rockafellow (1835–1926), served in the Civil War, went West and fought Indians, and developed the Rockvale and Brookside mines in Colorado; for eight years, Rockafellow served as president of the Rockefeller Family Association.
