Naval aviation pioneer and vice admiral (1885–1962) who, during the attack on Pearl Harbor, was responsible for sending the message, 'Air raid, Pearl Harbor. This is no drill.' Vintage fountain pen signature and inscription, "My best wishes to Miss Jean Moore, P. N. L. Bellinger, Vice Admiral U.S.N., Jan. 10, 1947,” on an off-white 5 x 6.75 sheet of Department of the Navy letterhead. In fine condition, with light creasing.
