Description

Revered Norwegian playwright and poet (1828-1906) whose works, including A Doll's House and Hedda Gabler, made him one of the seminal figures of modern drama. ANS in German, signed "Henrik Ibsen," penned on the reverse of one of his personal calling cards, 3.75 x 2.25, simply imprinted on the front with his name, dated at Munich, April 13, 1888. Ibsen writes, in full (translated): "Allow me to express my sincere and most respectful thanks for your kind dispatch." In very good to fine condition, with stains and old adhesive residue to the imprinted side. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Ibsen's hand to "Dr. jur. J. Winckel" in Castell, Wurzburg.
