ALS signed “Ingrid,” one page both sides, 6.25 x 8.25, La Grande aux Moines (Choisel) letterhead, May 13, 1967. Handwritten letter to award-winning lyricist and librettist Alan Jay Lerner, in full: “Do you by any chance plan to be in Europe in June? Lars will come to the ripe age of 50 on June 11th and I am having a surprise party for him in his own theatre ‘Montparnesse’ at 8 o’clock in the evening. He knows nothing about it. I know what good old friends you are and can just imagine how happy he would be to find you there. I know it’s a long way, but I want you to know how welcome you and your wife would be. Let me know if it’s possible to this address or Theatre Montparnasse, 31 rue de la Gaite. But don’t write to Lars! Hope all is well with you. It would be nice to see you again after all this time.” In fine condition. Bergman married noted Swedish theatrical producer, director, and publisher Lars Schmidt in 1958, at Caxton Hall in London, England, and they divorced in 1975. Two years earlier, Schmidt purchased the Théâtre Montparnasse in Paris.
