The son (1779–1849) of Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette, the French officer and hero of the American Revolution, and Adrienne de La Fayette, who was named in honor of George Washington, under whom the Marquis de Lafayette served during the Revolution. ALS in French, signed “George W. La Fayette,” one page, 6.75 x 8.5, July 23, 1841. Untranslated letter to a colonel, written from La Grange. In fine condition.
