(Hanna-Barbera Studios, 1960s) Original concept drawing for The Yogi Bear Show, which features a detailed view of the Yogi Bear Jellystone Diner and Drive-In. Attributed to artist Richard Bickenbach, this one-of-a-kind concept drawing depicts a diner building, with a large tree-shaped Yogi Bear sign at the front of the restaurant, the roof of which features a display of Ranger Smith chasing Boo Boo and Yogi Bear, the latter holding a picnic basket. Accomplished in graphite and colored pencil on untrimmed 17 x 13.5. animation paper. Total image measures 14.75 x 8.75. In very good to fine condition, with a central vertical fold and some edgewear.
The main resident of the fictional Jellystone Park, Yogi Bear seemed to be the perfect character to market a campground, and in 1969, Doug Haag and Robert Borkovetz partnered with Hanna-Barbera to establish Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts in the United States. Since then, visitors have been able to experience a bit of Yogi's daily life at a Jellystone campground. This concept art was developed in the 1960s, possibly as the early stage of design for what would become the Yogi Bear's Honey Fried Chicken restaurant chain, or perhaps as a diner at one of the Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts.
