TLS signed in pencil, one page, 8.5 x 11, March 8, 1956. Letter to Gilbert Miller, in full: "I would be very glad to become a member of the Honorary Committee of the American Theatre Wing for the presentation of the 'Tonys,' and trust that this letter does not arrive too late. I was unable to answer it before now." In good to very good condition, with overall creasing and multiple repaired tears. This letter was written in the year his collection of fables, Further Fables for Our Time,' was published (1956). In 1960, Thurber's play A Thurber Carnival received a Special Tony Award recognizing Thurber as writer and Burgess Meredith as director.
