Two items: a TLS, one page, 8 x 10, NASA letterhead, August 13, 1973, sent to young space fan Drew Smith: “As you celebrate the start of still another year, it gives me great pleasure to wish you a very happy 11th birthday! I am informed that you are quite an enthusiastic follower of our manned space flight activities, so I thought possibly you might find the enclosed to be of special interest. It was a fantastic journey to make, and I still find it difficult at times to believe it really happened to me. Please accept the enclosed with my very best wishes.”; and an official color 10 x 8 NASA lithograph CDR Shepard holding the American flag on the lunar surface during the Apollo 14 mission, signed and inscribed in black ink, “To Drew Smith, with my regards – Alan Shepard.” In overall fine condition.
