Fantastic original costume sketch for Jill Clayburgh in her role as Carole Lombard in the 1976 film Gable and Lombard, accomplished in graphite and watercolor on a 11.5 x 13.5 sheet of sketch paper. The dazzling full-length drawing shows the elegant white gown that Clayburgh wears while attending a premiere with Gable, signed in the lower left by the designer, "For Sprague Finish, Edith Head," and in the upper right, "#5, please call on back, E.H." Clayburgh is seen in this dress on the Gable and Lombard DVD cover, and it was featured in Tonner's 1998 Edith Head Collection as a limited edition porcelain doll. In fine condition.
