Description

United States Army general (1898–1975) who commanded the force defending Bastogne, Belgium, during the Battle of the Bulge in World War II, most famous for his brief reply to a German surrender ultimatum: 'Nuts.' Vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 photo of McAuliffe in uniform, signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint, "To Edmond D. Marino, with best wishes, A. C. McAuliffe.” Reverse bears a US Army credit stamp. In very good to fine condition, with a surface scratch to the upper right background, touching McAuliffe's left ear.
