Description

“In appreciation, David O. Selznick"—custom-bound final shooting script for the classic Oscar-winning 1939 film Gone with the Wind

Special custom-bound final shooting script for the classic Oscar-winning 1939 film Gone with the Wind, which was adapted from Margaret Mitchell’s beloved 1936 novel by screenwriter Sidney Howard, whose adaptation won him the Academy Award for Best Screenplay. The hardcover book, bound in quarter leather with gilt titling to the spine and front cover, 8.75 x 11, 256 pages, is signed on an opening page in fountain pen by the film’s Oscar-winning producer, “In appreciation, David O. Selznick.” The front pastedown and an opening page contain printed facsimile signatures of the film’s cast members, with the lone ‘live’ signature belonging to actress Ona Munson. A series of eight vintage glossy publicity photos from the film are pasted throughout the book’s pages. The book’s original owner, “Perry Charles,” was a veteran film publicist who worked for MGM and the studio’s radio station, WMGM. In fine condition, with a couple of scuffs and marks to the signed page, and scattered wear to the spine and covers.
