The 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, officially known as the World's Columbian Exposition, was held to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s voyage to the Americas. Spanning over 600 acres in Jackson Park, it showcased America’s industrial, cultural, and technological achievements on a grand scale. The fair introduced millions to innovations like electric lighting, the Ferris wheel, and new architectural styles embodied in the 'White City.' Drawing over 27 million visitors, it marked a turning point in American urban planning and national identity at the end of the 19th century.
