Partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 15.5 x 19.25, May 1, 1908. President Roosevelt appoints George H. Torney as a “Colonel in the Medical Corps in the service of the United States.” Signed prominently at the conclusion by Theodore Roosevelt and countersigned by Acting Secretary of War Robert Shaw Oliver. The embossed blue War Office seal remains affixed to the lower left. Rolled and in fine condition, with some creasing the edges. Accompanied by two additional documents related to Torney’s career, including a medical diploma in Latin, and a presidential appointment from 1917, commissioning Torney as a “Captain in the Medical Section,” signed at the conclusion by Secretary of War Newton D. Baker.
