TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal Eastern Airlines letterhead, September 20, 1962. Letter to Peter Eisner, in full: “I read with interest your recent request, and from the seal on the writing paper I am sure you and your associates have a very interesting hobby. Frankly, it would be difficult for me to pick out any one incident during World War I that might be of interest to you, but I am enclosing a pamphlet written by Damon Runyon and Walter Kiernan which might appeal to you and from which you could choose one that you would care to have for your records. During World War I, I shot down 22 planes and 4 balloons, which was the largest number by any American ace. Thanks for your interest in writing, and my best wishes to you and your fellow members of the Junior Philatelic Americans.” In very good to fine condition, with scattered light creasing.
