Sportswriter, cartoonist, and sports agent (1891–1955) widely considered to be the first sports agent; he got his start by running a ghostwriting syndicate that represented the likes of Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, and Lou Gehrig. Two TLSs signed "C. Walsh," each one page, 8.5 x 11, Samuel Goldwyn, Inc. letterhead, November 13, 1941, and January 27, 1942. The first, in part: "I have just received two very interesting and valuable clippings from Clem McCarthy, both on the subject of Leo Durocher in the Gehrig film…I wish you would watch for all such columns and pictures and send them to me…I don't mean for you to buy all the papers in New York by whenever you see anything of interest (particularly the Gehrig picture at this time) I wish you would mail it." The second, in part: "For such a nice fellow as he can be, Joe Williams can certainly write the most unnecessary, nasty stuff, at times, of anybody in the business. His mean little crack about Mrs. Gehrig's cocktail party hurt him fat more than it hurt her. Her telegram to him is a classic." In fine condition, with some faint toning and a paperclip impression to the later letter.
