Twice-signed DS, one page, 9 x 12.25, March 20, 1962. Contract between Laurel Productions and Paramount Pictures in regards to the projected budget and Pat Frank story outline for “The Girl Who Almost Got Away,” in which Howard Hawks is specified as “the Producer-Director of any photoplay based upon said outline.” Signed twice at the conclusion in ballpoint by Hawks. The document is stapled to a mimeographed copy of the proposed “Production Budget,” which contains a total budget of $3,508,000. In very good to fine condition, with fading to the text of the document, not affecting the two signatures.
Writer Pat Frank’s short story The Girl Who Almost Got Away was the basis for Howard Hawks' 1964 film Man's Favorite Sport?, a screwball comedy starring Rock Hudson and Paula Prentiss that ultimately made $6,000,000 at the box office.
