After sharing a "scattered conversation about the Communists," Hoover forwards a book to a noted New York Times journalist, "I think you might be interested in the episode of American relations with the Soviet Union"

TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, August 6, 1961. Letter to longtime New York Times correspondent Lawrence E. Davies, in full: "Apropos our scattered conversation about the Communists, I am sending you this book. I think you might be interested in the episode of American relations with the Soviet Union, which you will find beginning on page 425. This book is not released to the press until September 11th, when it will appear in the book shops. You are under wraps of secrecy until then." In very fine condition.
