Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 18.75 x 15.5, November 24, 1798. Four-language ship's papers issued to “Isaiah Pratt…master or commander of the Brig called the Thomas…lying at present in the port of Saybrook bound for St. Thomas and laden with Provision, Lumber & Small Stock.” Prominently signed in the center by President John Adams and countersigned by Secretary of State Timothy Pickering. The left side retains the original embossed paper seal. An uncommon example given how only the English column of the document is filled out. Mounted and framed to an overall size of 23.5 x 20. In fine condition, with repairs to small areas of paper loss, and small tape stains to the perimeter.
