Outstanding vintage matte-finish 11 x 14 head-and-shoulders portrait of President Truman, signed and inscribed in the lower border in fountain pen, "Kindest regards to Max Steiner, Harry S. Truman." In very good to fine condition, with some creases and small stains in the borders.
Steiner (1888-1971) was one of the most prolific and highly regarded composers of Hollywood's Golden Age. He was awarded three Oscars from a total of twenty-six nominations, including a win for Gone with the Wind, widely regarded as the greatest score in the history of film. A most unusual and interesting musical association from the piano-playing Commander-in-Chief.
