Pioneering French microbiologist and chemist (1822–1895) who demonstrated the germ theory of disease and developed the first vaccine against rabies. Uncommon 5.25 x 7 print of an artist's portrait showing the microbiologist in a near-profile pose, affixed to its original 8.75 x 11.75 mount, signed and inscribed on the mount in ink, "Souvenir de 11 mai 1886, a M. Maurice Vallery-Radot, L. Pasteur." The mount also bears a large pre-printed facsimile signature at center. In fine condition, with a small crease in the lightly rippled right margin.
