Born Don Van Vliet (1941–2010), Captain Beefheart was an enigmatic singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and visual artist whose work blended elements of blues, free jazz, rock, and avant-garde composition. Vintage felt tip signature, "To mark the spot, X, Van Vliet, 75,” on the reverse of a green 3.5 x 2.5 'University Film Society' membership card. In fine condition, with a fleck of surface loss to the front of the card.
