TLS as president, one page, 7 x 9, White House letterhead, April 26, 1933. Letter to Aymar Johnson, in full: “Thank you ever so much for your letter. This is just a short note to tell you that I certainly shall not be in New York on May thirteenth. It was awfully nice of you to ask me to come to Islip. I do hope I shall see you and Marion soon.” In very good to fine condition, with scattered small stains. Accompanied by an engraved portrait of Roosevelt.
Aymar Johnson (1883-1942) was a stockbroker and a lieutenant commander in the United States Naval Intelligence. A Harvard graduate, Johnson served in the Navy in the first World War and was a supporter of many community causes in his native Islip, New York. He was chairman of the Suffolk County Emergency Work Relief Committee during the early 1930s.
