"The team don’t look good at this time"—Connie Mack keeping tabs on his Philadelphia Athletics

ALS, one page, 6 x 9.5, Hotel George Washington (West Palm Beach, Florida) letterhead, March 28, 1952. Handwritten letter to Robert L. Cushman, in full (grammar and spelling retained): “The team don’t look good at this time they are playing poor ball at this time At Miami the Brooklyn won the two games that the Athletics played their mostly though the outfield taking advantage of them do to poor arms going from first base to third base when the ball was hit to the outfield. Will accept your kind invitation and just as soon as I reach Maine will stop and see you.” In fine condition, with an unobtrusive slice repaired with tape on the reverse. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope hand-addressed by Mack.
