Letter to popular evangelist Billy Sunday, in full: “Your letter of August 13 has just reached me with the invitation to visit Winona Lake during the latter part of September. I should enjoy being with you but engagements already scheduled make this impossible. I appreciate your friendship in extending this invitation and thank you for your good wishes.” In very good to fine condition, with light creasing and a couple of small spots of foxing. A month later on November 6, 1928, Herbert Hoover became the 31st president of the United States when he recorded a resounding victory over his Democratic opponent, Al Smith.
