Description

Vintage glossy 7 x 9.25 full-length photo of Elvis Presley during his time in the U.S. Army, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To the readers of 'Frankfurter Allgemeine,' Elvis Presley.” In very good condition, with creases, surface scratches, and irregularity to the emulsion. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from REAL.

Presley was drafted into the United States Army in 1958 and soon sent overseas to Germany as a member of the 1st Medium Tank Battalion, 32d Armor, service which lasted from October 1, 1958, until March 2, 1960. Germany had a profound effect on his life and career—he met his future wife, Priscilla, was introduced to amphetamines, and as a result of his generous patriotic service, earned the respect of an older generation of Americans, many of whom had previously viewed him in a negative light.
