Eminent Viennese composer (1825–1899) known as the 'Waltz King,' who is remembered for such classics as 'The Beautiful Blue Danube' and the 'Emperor Waltz,' and for the operetta staple, 'Die Fledermaus.' ALS in German, signed “Johann Strauss,” one page, 5.5 x 8, no date. Handwritten letter to a "colleague," in part (translated): "As no concert is taking place today Herr Geber is asking for a new program for Sunday, as the one which would have been given tomorrow has already been publicized twice. I have therefore taken the liberty of having a program for Sunday sent to you." Handsomely double-matted and framed with a bust portrait to an overall size of 17.25 x 15. In fine condition.
