Official color semi-glossy 11 x 14 NASA photo of Gemini 4 Pilot Ed White performing the first space walk by an American, affixed to its original 16 x 20 presentation mount, signed and inscribed in black ink, “To Gene – This was a big momment [sic] for me – I am sure there are many more in store for you – and perhaps we will share some. Edward H. White II, Gemini 4, 3 June ‘65.” The mount reverse is marked in felt tip, “GC-0550.” In fine condition, with light dings to mount, and toning from prior display. An iconic pose from a historic moment in American space history, presented by the very astronaut involved to ‘the last man on the moon.’ During the Gemini 4 mission, Cernan served as CAPCOM as part of the support crew, which also included astronauts Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee. Sadly, Cernan never had the chance to work with White again, as both he, Grissom, and Chaffee perished in the tragic Apollo 1 fire on January 27, 1967.
