November 9, 1966: “Heartiest congratulations on your election to the 90th Congress. Nothing could give me more satisfaction and pride than the knowledge that the people of your District have chosen a man committed to the ideals and principles of the Democratic party to work with us for their progress, prosperity, and security.”
January 17, 1969: “Although my Administration is drawing to a close, I did want to take this occasion to say farewell — and to wish you all the best in the years ahead. I hope that your public career will continue to bring you much satisfaction.”
The third letter, signed “LBJ,” one page, 7 x 8.75, personal letterhead, September 16, 1970, in part: “Your encouraging words in connection with the invitation extended by the President of the Student Bar Association of the University of Georgia are very much appreciated. Although, unfortunately, I have had to decline and will be unable to join you.” In overall fine to very fine condition. Accompanied by the two original White House mailing envelopes.
