Handwritten letter to noted publisher and educator Sir Isaac Pitman, in full: “I received the report and was very grateful indeed for it, but have no time at present for any but absolutely essential correspondence.” Matted and framed to an overall size of 8.5 x 10.75. In very good to fine condition, with scattered light foxing affecting only appearance.
Sir Isaac Pitman was a noted publisher and teacher of the English language (1813–1897) who developed the most widely used system of shorthand, known now as Pitman shorthand. He first proposed this in Stenographic Soundhand in 1837. Additionally, he also served as vice-president of the Vegetarian Society, and in 1894 he was knighted by Queen Victoria.
