Vintage glossy 8 x 10 full-length photo of Bela Lugosi as Dracula during a stage production from the 1940s, depicting the vampire poised to sink his fangs into the throat of a helpless damsel, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Alex and Dick, good luck, Bela Lugosi.” In fine condition.
Accompanied by a letter of provenance from a previous owner, who states that the recipients of the photo “are producer/directors, and brothers, Richard and Alex Gordon, who were good friends with Lugosi in the early 1950s up until Lugosi's death in 1956. I purchased this photo approximately two years ago…[Afterwards] I was able to contact Alex and met with him on many occasions and purchase many other Lugosi signed and unsigned items that he had obtained in person through his friendship with Lugosi. At one of our meetings, I brought along the above-mentioned Lugosi photo and showed it to him. He stated that he had received the photo in the early 1950s after having dinner with Lugosi at the Tovar restaurant in New York City.”
