Description

Kipling responds to an inquiry about a "proposed version of The Man Who Was"

ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7, Wilden House letterhead, November 5, 1904. Handwritten letter to "Monsieur Fabulet," in full: "Thank you for your kind letter of the 30th October in regard to your proposed version of The Man Who Was. I find however, after referring to Mr. Watt, that it will be necessary for you to arrange matters with Mr. Beerbohm Tree & Mr. Kinsey Peile who, it seems, have also some contest over translation rights. I do not anticipate that you will find any difficulty in securing their permission but Mr. A. P. Watt will get you all the information you require." In fine condition.
