Belgian surrealist artist (1898-1967) known for his depictions of familiar objects in unfamiliar, unexpected contexts, which often provoked questions about the nature and boundaries of reality and representation. His imagery has influenced pop art, minimalist art, and conceptual art. ALS in French, one page, 5.25 x 8, February 6, 1963. Handwritten letter to a gentleman, in part (translated): "I thank you for your letter and your intention regarding a study in 'Realites' which would concern my work. Unfortunately, I am providing very little documentation that could be useful to you: I do not keep publications of this order. It is with pleasure that I send you this joint three catalogues and some illustrated maps. The Liège catalog contains a bibliographical part that was more or less complete at the time it appeared (in 1960). One of the authors of this bibliography: Andre Bosmans has just written a study on my painting (of nine typewritten pages). I am informing you about its possible use. I am very satisfied with this work which I could communicate to you if necessary." In fine condition, with a light stain to the bottom edge.
