Japanese painter and printmaker (1886–1968) whose work combined Japanese techniques with Western style. ALS in French, signed “Foujita,” one page, 5 x 8.25, no date. Handwritten letter to Jean Avalon, stating that he received his correspondent's letter that morning, and that it had given him great pleasure to know that he had not been forgotten. He continues (translated): "I am still one of the admirers of your Esculape Editions, but I have ignored them until now, and this afternoon I also received your 4 issues of Esculape, which are magnificent. I am very touched by your attention and kindness towards me, thank you. Today of course I am sending you a cheque and would you be so kind as to send me these volumes which are of great interest to me." In fine condition.
