German writer (1871–1950) known for his socio-political novels; his fierce criticism of the growing Fascist and Nazi movements forced him to flee Germany after the Nazis came to power in 1933. The older brother of Nobel Prize–winning author Thomas Mann, he lived in California from 1940 until his death. AQS on an off-white 5 x 3 card, in full: "I wish the United States to be victorious and wise. July 8, 1942, Heinrich Mann." In fine condition, with a faint paperclip impression to the bottom edge. A significant quote from the German exile, penned amidst World War II.
