Description

Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 21 x 16, October 19, 1858. Four-language ship’s pass issued to "James K. Hunting, master or commander of the Barque called General Scott…lying at present in the port of Fairhaven, bound for Pacific Ocean and laden with Provisions, stores and utensils for a whaling voyage." Crisply signed at the center by President James Buchanan and countersigned below by Acting Secretary of State John Appleton. The white paper seal remains affixed at the bottom, along with four green notary seals. Nicely suede-matted and framed to an overall size of 29.25 x 24.25. In fine condition. In fine condition.
