Description

Union general (1831-1888) whose cavalry command blocked Lee's escape at Appomattox. Civil War-dated LS signed “P. H. Sheridan,” one page, 3.25 x 2.5, November 9, 1862. Letter addressed from “Head Qrs. 11th Div. 14th Army Corps,” in full: “Respectfully forwarded – The Reg’t is very much in need of the services of Lieut. Col. Conrad and request that the necessary steps be immediately taken to process his exchange.” Matted and framed with an engraved portrait and book photo to an overall size of 17 x 13.25. In fine condition, with a couple of small tears to the text.
